It's a great day for America and it's a great day to buy property in the Keweenaw. State Wide is climbing the sales charts with regular, solid closings for sellers and buyers. We are seeing more inquires again as we get through the memorial day holiday and first couple of weeks of June. Traditionally we see a spike in buyer inquires in the 2nd half of June, and this year is holding true to that pattern. We've had a number of closings this week, and we have several more set for the rest of the week. So, give us a call and let's go look at homes or land. Well, it's mid June and we are having a good real estate selling year so far. The tax credits offered for 1st and repeat buyers were a real boost to sales last month. And, we have a whole bunch more closings set for the 2nd half of June. We're also receiving new buyer inquiries and offers on vacant land and waterfront, which hasn't really happened in the last 18 months. So, 2010 is shaping up to be a good summer. State Wide Real Estate of Houghton has the highest number of listings that we have had in our history, and they are really good quality listings. Looking down the list of homes, vacant land, waterfront, and commercial listings, there are a lot of good values. Give us a call as we’d love to share them with you. Spring has sprung in the Keweenaw! Officially it's spring, but we've had warm, spring-like weather for the month of March. Load restrictions went on all the roads in area in the first week of March. Our snow is almost gone (except for in the shade and in the woods), and the Copper Country looks great. Real estate inquiries and sales picked up after the New Year, and we're ahead of last year's sales at this time already. So, it seems like the Country/Economy is showing some signs of awakening from it's slumber. State Wide Real Estate of Houghton has many value priced listings in vacant land, residential, and commercial property. Waterfront is a real value as it has been the slowest moving slice of our market for the last couple of years. If you are interested in waterfront, there are some great deals available. Welcome to 2010! We're excited for a new decade and we expect it to be a great year! We're getting busy with new listings and buyers writing offers, so it's a great time to list or sell real estate in the Keweenaw of Michigan. Summer is gone--it's 40 outside and we're having a beautiful Fall day in the Keweenaw. We've had a great summer as we sold a lot of real estate. And, the street reconstruction project on Shelden Avenue is complete. The new pavers and sidewalks are awesome, and the new street lighting really makes downtown Houghton shine. Come on downtown and check it out. There are fabulous buys to be had in local real estate, so it's a great time to buy. Bank money is still very available for qualified borrowers, so let's look at some land or a home and find you a new place in the sun here. Thanks.

Summer is here--it's 86 outside and is forecast the same for the rest of the week. As you should be able to see from the State Wide Real Estate of Houghton "Streetcam", the Shelden Avenue construction is to our State Wide office. The contractors have been working feverishly to get the project moving. You should see dumptrucks removing the old earth, utilities being run in the new trenches, and new sand being placed in the trench. When the backfilling is complete, they will compact it, pave a few inches of asphalt, and then place the pavers between the newly installed curb & gutter. So, sit back and watch the progress. I'll turn the camera as the construction moves on to our block. And, by the way, we're not sitting by watching the construction--we're busy showing homes & land and writing offers for buyers. Good morning. To no surprise, it was in the mid-30s last night and very cold and breezy; but, today the forecast calls for 88 degrees and sunshine! Wow--we've all heard the cliche that says if you do';t like the local weather, just wait 5 minutes. We're getting spring today. The leaves on our Keweenaw trees are emerging from hibernation, so we're headed for summer. Unlike the rest of the Country, our local real estate market is busy.
