Happy Holidays to you and your loved ones!  The lights, wreath, and garland have been hung, and we're all starting to feel the "hustle and bustle" of the end of year holidays.  We can see it in how people seem a little more rushed when they are in the office or scurrying by on the sidewalk in downtown Houghton.  It's our wish for everyone to have a peaceful holiday season, and take time to enjoy the family and friends that you happen to be with at any given time.  Real estate is still buzzing along at the end of the year--we have many closings left to do before 2012.  So, give us a call if you are still looking for your own perfect piece of the Keweenaw/Copper Country.

Happy Thanksgiving!  We have much to be thankful for this year.  Thanks for being a part of our blessings this year.

October 22, 2011

It’s hard to believe that it’s almost November already.  2011 has been a busy year for the office.  We’ve added a couple new agents, produced our own inhouse brochure profiling the Keweenaw and our listings, and sold quite a bit more property than we did in 2010.  So, thank you for helping us to great 2011 so far.  Moreover, we’re still busy listing, showing property, and closing deals as we wind down on the year.  It’s not too late to buy or sell your property this year.  Give us a call or shoot us an email.  We’d be happy to email you any property that matches what you are looking for in your next home or vacant land purchase.  Additionally, we’ve got a number of good business opportunities listed—they just need the right entrepreneur to take them over.  Give us a call at 906-482-6955 and let’s talk real estate.

August 24, 2011

Great summer going so far, albeit fleeting at this point.  We've had heat, sunshine, and enough rain to keep it pretty green.  Our sales have been above last year at this point, so we've had a good summer.  If we've sold your place, great.  If we haven't, we're still trying to find the perfect buyer.  Keep the faith as we're still having showings and writing offers for buyers.  The Keweenaw is alive and well.  Look for a feature article on the Keweenaw in the September, 2011 edition of Lakeland Boating Magazine--we'll have an ad in the article too.

Greetings to all of our friends.  Spring is here, but the forecast for tomorrow is a winter storm warning with 5-9 inches of snow on top of a 1/4" of ice.  This sounds like fun. Please bring your shovel and boots and let's go look at property.  Based on a request, I updated the table of data below to show just Houghton County MLS sales, for all types of real estate. Peace.

Say hello to spring and melting snow in the Keweenaw!  We had a small winter blast last week, which officially was 7.5" of new snow at the airport (CMX), but it's gone now and we're forecast to reach almost 50 degrees today.  Real Estate is heating up, and we're busy writing offers. So far 2011 started out strong compared to last year.  Homes continue to generate increased showings and buyer interest. This should continue through the mid-summer if a typical year transpires.  Surprisingly, waterfront and vacant land showings are even increasing. So, we're expecting to have a good year.  If you are looking to buy or sell property in the Keweenaw, give us a call at 906-482-6955.

PS--We're considering changing the format of our listings on this site to add more detail to them.  Do you like that idea?  If yes or no, please send me an email of your thoughts about that, or any other changes that you'd like to see.  Thanks.  kevin@statewideofhoughton.com

January 3, 2011

Well, happy new year! We trust that you had a great holiday experience, and now it's back to a more normal routine in January.  We welcome in the new year, and look forward to buying, listing and selling your real estate.  2010 was a great year, and so far 2011 seems to be starting well.  For the week, we are forecast to have lake effect snow everyday, so we'll expect 4"-6" of snow a day.  Come on up and let's have fun looking at property in the post-card like snow scenes.  PS--State Wide Real Estate of Houghton officially purchased the franchise for State Wide of L'Anse several years ago.  So, if you are looking for the State Wide office for L'Anse and Baraga County, give use a call at 906-482-6955.  We'll be happy to show and list property for you.  Thanks--happy new year!

December 14, 2010

Happy Holidays to you and yours from the State Wide Real Estate of Houghton team! 2010 is closing as expected, and you'll hear no complaints from us.  We've had a solid year and we're looking forward to enjoying the holidays, and then getting back to selling in 2011. Student rental properties will be the hot property right after the New Year, so if you've got one to sell in the area, please call us to discuss getting it listed.  Students need to renew dorm and other rental contracts in February and March, so now is the time to get your rental on the market.  We are already talking with several property owners who have the same idea.

Here's some interesting data from our Keweenaw MLS on all property types for our four county MLS, including Baraga, Houghton, Keweenaw, and Ontonagon.

We are looking forward to another good year in 2011.  We appreciate your business.  Merry Christmas and Happy New Year in advance.

November 7, 2010

Happy November!  It's been a while since our last update, but all is well.  We're closing in on the end of the year, and it has been a good 2010 for the office. We added a new associate broker to the office this summer in Jalena Tesanovich; she's been a great addition. Vacant land sales have picked up all year long, and we're expecting an even better year for land in 2011. While waterfront sales have been slow the last couple of years, we did sell some this year.  And, mortgage rates are at extremely low levels right now.  So, if you are thinking about buying some property, the lower prices combined with low interest rates make a great combination.  Happy early thanksgiving to you, and good luck hunting if you are going to be out in the woods.

June 24, 2010

It's a great day for America and it's a great day to buy property in the Keweenaw. State Wide is climbing the sales charts with regular, solid closings for sellers and buyers.  We are seeing more inquires again as we get through the memorial day holiday and first couple of weeks of June.  Traditionally we see a spike in buyer inquires in the 2nd half of June, and this year is holding true to that pattern. We've had a number of closings this week, and we have several more set for the rest of the week.  So, give us a call and let's go look at homes or land.  And, please driveby the office and check out a first draft of a new sign above our front door. It's framed by 70 year old barn boards. Let me know what you think of it.  Thanks.

June 13, 2010

Well, it's mid June and we are having a good real estate selling year so far.  The tax credits offered for 1st and repeat buyers were a real boost to sales last month. And, we have a whole bunch more closings set for the 2nd half of June. We're also receiving new buyer inquiries and offers on vacant land and waterfront, which hasn't really happened in the last 18 months.  So, 2010 is shaping up to be a good summer.  State Wide Real Estate of Houghton has the highest number of listings that we have had in our history, and they are really good quality listings. Looking down the list of homes, vacant land, waterfront, and commercial listings, there are a lot of good values. Give us a call as we’d love to share them with you.  In other news, Josh and Melissa had their first child--congrats! We're also sponsoring the downtown music series this summer (Thursday nights on Huron Street next to the office), so please enjoy some great local music on Thursday nights. Enjoy your summer and come on in and visit with us—we'd love to see you.

March 24, 2010

Spring has sprung in the Keweenaw! Officially it's spring, but we've had warm, spring-like weather for the month of March.  Load restrictions went on all the roads in area in the first week of March.  Our snow is almost gone (except for in the shade and in the woods), and the Copper Country looks great. Real estate inquiries and sales picked up after the New Year, and we're ahead of last year's sales at this time already.  So, it seems like the Country/Economy is showing some signs of awakening from it's slumber. State Wide Real Estate of Houghton has many value priced listings in vacant land, residential, and commercial property. Waterfront is a real value as it has been the slowest moving slice of our market for the last couple of years.  If you are interested in waterfront, there are some great deals available. Give us a call and let's go explore Baraga, Houghton, Keweenaw, or Ontonagon County. Several local builders are saying that they are fielding more inquiries about home building as well, so it's time to get up and go.  Give us a call as we are focused on "just selling property."  Thanks.

January 14, 2010

Welcome to 2010!  We're excited for a new decade and we expect it to be a great year!  We're getting busy with new listings and buyers writing offers, so it's a great time to list or sell real estate in the Keweenaw of Michigan.  Check out the street cam to the right--the 2nd annual Jibba Jabba Rail Jam is happening January 16 & 17 on Huron Street in Houghton, right along side the State Wide Building. We're a core sponsor this year, so come on out and watch some great local community snowboard action this weekend.  If you can't make it, you are welcome to catch a few glimpses of it on the web cam.  It updates several times a minute.  Between now and then the snow is being positioned and shaped for the competition.  Thanks for looking, and please call us at 906-482-6955 for all of your real estate needs.  We sell more land than any other office in the area, and we sell homes in the four county area:  Baraga, Houghton, Keweenaw, and Ontonagon.
